A Watchful Eye in the Evacuation Zone
Posted 16 October 2026
No spoilers for the plot of Control Resonant here, just discussion about a possible teaser for a future Remedy game.
I was wandering around the Evacuation Zone, looking for a camera, and found an interesting apartment that had a blinking lamp outside of it.
There are no blinking lamps in the rest of the game – well, none that I know of. I haven't finished the game yet, after all. Not only was it blinking, it was blinking in some kind of non-repeating pattern. Some short, some long. So, morse code.
What does the code say?
Uh, I didn't want to wait around for a couple of minutes or however long it took to write down the code and translate it from Morse to English, so I didn't figure it out. However, some people on Reddit with much more patience than me did. The message is different in the base game and in New Game+.
- In the base game: THE DEATH OF THE AUTHOR
- In New Game+: BARRY WHEELER WILL RETURN

The inside of the apartment is…odd. It's very sparse on furniture, and the walls are covered with what appears to be ink or black paint that's been smeared around by hand. In the furthest room is a TV showing static, which clears up somewhat when you view it.
And what you hear upon viewing it, aside from TV static, is Alan Wake's voice.

A Watchful Eye. Yet another phrase than can be acronymized as AWE.
Everything is unclear – the video quality makes it look like a VHS tape that's really been through the wringer – but the two Nightwatchmen who show up appear to be Alan Wake and Alex Casey. Which version of Alex Casey? The one who exists in actuality – the FBI agent, Saga Anderson's partner – or the fictional one from Alan's books?
In the video, Alan mentions being essentially being haunted by the "Scratcher", which I'm assuming is an evolution of Mr. Scratch from American Nightmare and Scratch from Alan Wake 2. Poe is heard in the background, singing a variant of 6 Deep Breaths, which we heard in Alan Wake 2's Lake House DLC. Also, Alan and Casey are shown dancing in the end, which I assume is a reference to the Herald of Darkness musical.
The video looks like it could be a preview for a TV show. Maybe even an episode of Night Springs, which Alan wrote for in the past, before he went to Bright Falls, and later, while trying to escape the Dark Place. Those are the Night Springs DLC episodes.
This collectible is called "The Master of Many Worlds", in the category "The Nightwatchman". It's the only collectible in that category.
I don't know what this could be, aside from a preview for Alan Wake 3. It looks like Alan's writing again, probably trying to leave the Dark Place as he's still stuck there at the end of Alan Wake 3. The collectible being called "The Master of Many Worlds" brings to mind the Time Breaker episode of the Night Springs DLC. I wonder if this means Alan Wake 3 will have Alan visiting other worlds.
I will definitely need to revisit Alan Wake 2 after I'm done with Control Resonant.
Unanswered Remedyverse Questions, October 2026
Posted 9 October 2026
I suspect a few of these questions will be answered once I finish Resonant, but I want to get all of this written down now before I forget something. I'm sure I've forgotten some things already.
Since there are spoilers for all Remedyverse games, all questions are hidden below the read more.
What happened to Sarah Breaker?
She was the Sheriff of Bright Falls in Alan Wake, then left to join the Feds and hasn't been seen since. Since her father was an FBC agent, it's uncertain whether these Feds are the FBI or the FBC. If she did join the FBC, I doubt she went to the Oldest House since there is no mention of her in Control; she's probably in a field office like Estevez.
Where is Barry Wheeler?
We know he's been hanging out with the Blessed, has been questioned by FBC agents, and got out of New York before 2026 because somehow Blessed knew that the AWE was going to happen. If he isn't in New York, is he wherever the Blessed are set up?
Just who exactly is Mr. Door?
I think it's very likely we'll never know much about this guy. I'd be totally fine with keeping him a mystery, for the most part. What we do know about him is that he's Saga Anderson's father and seems to be able to move around different worlds without problem.
How exactly did Tom the Filmmaker replace Tom the Poet?
I am of the opinion that these are two separate people, and one of them replaced the other, somehow. We met Tom the Poet in Alan Wake and Tom the Filmmaker in Alan Wake 2. Jesse initially remembers Tom Zane as a poet before correcting herself that he's a filmmaker. Tom the Filmmaker claims that Tom the Poet was just a role he played in one of his films. I don't believe that. Tom the Filmmaker is not trustworthy.
Where is Former and what are its goals?
Former is a former part of the Board, and it escaped into the Foundation after Control's Foundation DLC. Solely because everything else left the House after the lockdown ended, I'm assuming Fromer also left and went...somewhere. I still don't know what it's trying to accomplish. Maybe it just wanted to leave the Astral Plane and now it won't be bothering anyone again?
Where did the Board come from?
Are they native to the Astral Plane? I assume so, since they need the Nail to anchor them to the Oldest House. Also, what the hell are they?
What's going on with Northmoor?
Since Northmoor isn't the fire Resonant we saw in the trailers (that Resonant is properly called "The Deserter") and the Oldest House still as power, he's probably still chained up in the NSC. From what I remember, he's tried to escape at least once. I would not be surprised if he tried to escape again in the future.
What's the deal with the Furnace in the Maintenance Sector?
There are at least two people, one of whom became The Deserter, claim that the Furnace was talking to them and asking them to fee it things, including people. It's clearly some kind of paranatural entity, but how did it become paranatural in the first place?
What exactly are the goals of the Blessed Organization?
They're creating Altered Items, but for what purpose? Just to fuck with the FBC?
Is Chester Bless actually an alternate reality version of Paul Serene?
Since Mr. Door and Tim Breaker are functionally alternate versions of Martin Hatch and Jack Joyce, it would make sense that there's an official Remedyverse version of Paul Serene as well. And Chester Bless sounds very similar, as a name, to Paul Serene.
How/why did Dr. Darling end up in the Dark Place?
It seems like a genuinely strange place to "ascend" to after being changed by Hedron resonance.
Is the Taxi Threshold (for lack of a better world) part of the Dark Place?
The lighting there definitely reminds me of the Dark Place in Alan Wake 2. Not sure why a taxi would be able to access the Dark Place, or how someone else would get stuck in it so far away from Cauldron Lake in Washington.
Where did the Aberrant come from?
Ever since the first trailer dropped I've been thinking it was a part of the Nail. That would explain why the Board is in it, or how Jesse was able to put the Board into it.
Control Resonant Theorizing: The Patterning
Posted 3 October 2026
I'm not very far into the game, I think, and I'm sure I'll get real answers to my questions later on, but I still want to write this down now so I can come back to it later and see how off-base/correct I was. Also, don't tell me if I guessed correctly! I want to learn things on my own.
There are spoilers past this point, mostly for the prologue and documents you can find in the starting area. Read at your own risk.
I haven't run into much of the Patterning, but I noticed that the area leading up to the first Resonant (The Artist/Cassia Nomura) had a bunch of circles that look really similar to the circles Jesse drew all over her notes and whiteboards.
Now, Cassia Nomura does/did use circles in her artwork, so it could just be that the Patterning makes them look similar to Jesse's. It could be a coincidence. But Remedy doesn't really do coincidences, so I'm going to say that Nomura's circles are related to Jesse's circles.

So, let's say that these circles, in general, are related to the Patterning. Why would Jesse be drawing them? Did she know about the Patterning before the Oldest House lockdown fell? Did she, somehow, end up causing the Patterning, while trying to end the Hiss infestation of the Oldest House?
You know what else Jesse was doing? Trying to reconstitute the slides used for the Slide Projector OOP.

It looks like efforts to reconstitute the slides were unsuccessful, but what if she managed to create a new slide outright? In the vision Dylan saw of her before fighting the Artist, Jesse explained that she was going to use the Slide Projector to go into another world and fix the problems caused by the Hiss (and other things).
That can't happen if she doesn't have a usable slide, so I'm guessing at some point she was able to create one. And then she used the Slide Projector and went through to another world, where she's...fixing faults, or something, at the cost of her own memories. I've only seen the first vision. I don't have enough information to determine what she's really doing.
And something about this is causing the Patterning. Creating the slide? Using the Slide Projector? It came from a slide, like Polaris and the Hiss?
The only problem with this idea is that the Patterning came from outside the Oldest House, and there's been no communication with the outside world for the past seven years. Some part of the outside world knew that the AWE was going to happen – per Barry's emails in Alan Wake 2, the Blessed Organization knew that something was going to happen a few years in the future from 2023.
Even after the ARG, and knowing that the Blessed have been creating Altered Items, I don't actually think they're responsible for the Patterning. It doesn't quite seem to be their MO to cause Altered World Events.
I still think Jesse is somehow responsible for the Patterning. Or she is the Pattern, maybe. That would possibly explain why the Board referred to her as the Final Boss. She's become a Resonant Entity or something similar. She did basically become the new Polaris at the end of the previous game, so that wouldn't surprise me too much.
What do I want from Control Resonant?
Posted 18 September 2026
We're six days out from this game. I'm getting excited. Okay, I've been excited ever since it was announced back in December. This is probably the most I've ever been excited for a video game in my life.
I found the world of Control fascinating from the beginning, but the first game took place exclusively inside the Oldest House. In Resonant, we're going outside! Yes, we're limited to parts of Manhattan, but that's still outside. We'll get to explore the world outside of the Oldest House.
Without any further rambling, here are some of the things I'd like to see explored in Control Resonant, in no particular order.
1. Former
We don't really know all that much about Former. Is it a former part of the Board? What are its goals? Is Jesse working with it. Is that the reason she's gone missing?
Former escaped into the Oldest House at the end of the Foundation DLC, and since the lockdown failed, I'm wondering if Former was one of the things that escaped into New York alongside the Mold and the Hiss. Maybe it's leading Jesse towards...something. Something important enough that she had to abandon her duties as the director of the FBC.
2. The Blessed Organization
Given the ARG that's going on right now, I'm pretty sure the Blessed Organization is going to be quite a significant part of Resonant. They're already known to be antagonistic to the FBC. They might be the ones who caused the Oldest House's lockdown to fall. They might be responsible for the Manhattan AWE itself. Given that there are emails from Barry Wheeler in Alan Wake 2 stating that Chester Bless himself told Barry to stay away from New York because something significant would be happening there in a couple of years, I think that's more likely than not.
Even if the Blessed Organization isn't responsible for the AWE in any manner, I can definitely see them using it to their advantage to create Altered Items or Objects of Power.
3. Jesse/Dylan Faden
This being mentioned by both Dylan and the Board in the first Control game is too much of a coincidence for me. I've also seen some things in the preview material that have me thinking it's going to be addressed in some way or another. I don't quite believe that Jesse and Dylan were one person that the Ordinary AWE split in two; my theory at the moment is that they're from two different realities and ended up in the same reality due to the AWE. That's why they remember the events of the Ordinary AWE differently – and maybe why Jesse remembers Tom Zand as a poet rather than a filmmaker.
4. Mr. Door
Dylan has already met Mr. Door, who in Alan Wake 2 is implied pretty heavily to be someone who can move through different worlds. I don't think Mr. Door is going to be a major character in Resonant like he was in Alan Wake 2, but Dylan being the first person in the Remedy Connected Universe to mention him has to be significant in some way.
